Our own farm is at the heart of everything we do.

From Farm to Fork

We believe in using as much produce from our farm as possible. As well as growing vegetables, fruit and exotics year round  in our poly tunnel and raised beds.
We also breed Kune Kune pigs a rare breed native to New Zealand. These beautiful animals help us create our signature sausages for breakfasts and chops for our restaurant menus. There unique fat marbling gives unparalleled flavour and makes it perfect meat for Smoke and Embers fire pit cooking. As well as using Moorfarms cows which are visible on the flood plains across the river and Sunrise goats which are just a mile or two away, Smoke and Embers also uses the local produce from Fruit Pigs Butchery just up the road supplying the best black pudding in the country.
 
 

Petting Zoo

As well as Kune Kune pigs we have chickens for eggs, pigmy goats. We also have horses and ponies on the farm. Many of these have been rescued and now have a safe and secure longterm home at Dog in a Doublet and can be seen in our petting areas.
One of the things we like most about running our own farm is having children take a look around and meet the animals up close. It's like our own little Peterborough petting zoo. 

Not Forgetting Man's Best Friend

As our name may suggest, Dog in a Doublet, welcomes well behaved dogs. We even allow in their owners, in most cases. When you eat in our restaurant you can have your pet with you in the front bar area. Water, Dog treats and on some days pet meals are available, just ask a member of staff.

Provenance

When you eat in our restaurant you can order eggs that were laid just outside by our rare-breed hens. In an era when you can't always be sure where your food comes from, it doesn't get much more local than that.
